Feeding the Frasers: Instagram’s Best Destination for CrossFit Foodies

Written by Audrey Carson

Ever wonder what the fittest male on earth eats to fuel his performance? Well, you can stop the guessing as Mat Fraser’s wife, Sammy Moniz, has created one of the most appealing Instagram pages related to food out there.

If you’re hungry, scrolling through her posts will make matters far worse. Sammy regularly shares meal, snack, and dessert ideas that optimize training sessions and keep her hubby full and prepared to crush his journey to another CrossFit Games title.

She says, “With Mat being an athlete at the top of his game, our lives revolve around routine and eating the foods you’re used to is an important part of that.”

As many know, eating clean can get monotonous. Finding meals more appetizing than endless grilled chicken, rice, and broccoli can be a battle in and of itself. Further, finding snacks that lead to greater health and recovery can be an equal challenge. Fraser’s wife exhibits the opposite, giving us all a helping hand in stocking the fridge and looking forward to what’s at the table. She proves that eating well doesn’t have to be boring.

Here’s a quick recipe straight from the ‘Feeding the Frasers’ Instagram page:

Peanut Chicken Skewers
* 1/2 cup peanut butter
* 2 tbsp soy sauce
* 2 tbsp sesame oil
* 1 tbsp white vinegar
* 2 tsp ground ginger
* 4 green onions, diced
* 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
* 1.5-2 lbs chicken breast or thighs, cubed
— Mix PB, soy sauce, sesame oil, vinegar, ginger, and half the green onions and cilantro together in med bowl. Add chicken, mix well and let stand in marinade for at least one hour. — fill skewers with chicken, grill on med heat until internal temp reaches 165. Top with remaining green onions and cilantro. Serve with cucumber salad (2 cucumbers, 1 tbsp sesame oil, 3 Tbsp rice vinegar, 1 tsp red pepper flakes, 1 Tbsp sugar, pinch salt + green onions).

So, if you’re looking for clean eating inspiration to promote quality sessions in the box, and what to keep your body fed like the best in the sport, give her page @feedingthefrasers a follow.
