The 2020 CrossFit Open is officially upon us! Hopefully, you didn’t miss the news given that the CrossFit Games are officially off of Instagram and Facebook. Nonetheless, the Open is getting off to a big start this year as Scott Panchik and Rich Froning are set to square off live from Austin, Texas. The action starts at 6:30 p.m. CST with a special edition of the Rogue Iron Game show. Tune in to roguefitness.com/iron-game to watch.
Now, what fun would the Open be without a prediction as to what Dave Castro is going to throw our way (this is our 7th year making predictions and we’ve gotten really close several times)? To make things even more interesting, Castro is once again providing the community with ‘clues’ for the upcoming workouts – this time on his person Instagram.
While the first workout is always the hardest to predict, we’ve taken several factors into consideration and present you with:
20.1
16-Minute AMRAP
40 Double-unders
20 Alternating Dumbbell Snatches (50/35)
15 Toes-to-Bar
Why?
-We haven’t seen much barbell work in the first workout of the Open since 15.1. Technically there was a barbell in 16.1 but that was for overhead lunges – so we’re not counting that.
-The first workout is usually a pretty long one. The last four Opens have all kicked off with a workout 15 minutes or longer.
-Couplets and triplets make up the majority of the Open. We’re going with a triplet for 20.1.
-We’re ignoring Dave Castro’s clue on Instagram. The best predictions usually happen when you do that!
