‘The Engine’, as she is commonly referred to has set another Concept 2 Indoor Row record, this time in the lightweight women 30-39 1000 meters. Briggs completed the 1k row in 3 minutes 23.3 seconds; for those of you doing the math, that’s just under 1:45/500m pace. The record was set as part of the qualifier for the Dubai Fitness Championships to be held later this year.
Earlier this year, Briggs broke the 500m indoor rowing world record for the women’s lightweight class at the English Indoor Rowing Championships (EIRC) setting a time of 1:33.4 seconds, smashing the existing world record of 1.36.7 (according to statistics from concept2.com). On the same day, she also set the British lightweight 30-39 record in the 2000m with a time of 7:05.1.
According to her Instagram account, her next goal is to break the current 2k row world record. By the looks of it, we don’t doubt she will!
