Written by Damect Dominguez

CrossFit has just released the 2016 CrossFit Games season schedule—here’s what you need to know. To kick it all off, on February 25th, the CrossFit Games season begins with the Open. Oh yes, time to whip yourself into shape my friends. Alongside the Open, we also have the dates for the Regionals, Games and additional information pertaining to the 2016 CrossFit Games season.

January 14th—Registration begins for the 2016 Open.

Over the course of five weeks, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in five separate workouts. These workouts take place from late February through March. Athletes from 14 years-old and upwards can participate, and there are different divisions (Individual Male, Individual Woman, Team, Teen and Masters) from which to choose from. In addition, each workout will come in two options: Rx’d (as prescribed) and Scaled. Workouts are released each week on Thursday at 5 p.m. PT, and athletes have four days or 96 hours to complete the workout and submit their score. Scores are due before 5 p.m. PT that Monday.

2016 Open Dates

Feb. 25 – March 28, 2016
16.1: Feb. 25 – 29
16.2: March 3 – 7
16.3: March 10 – 14

The fittest athletes from each region in the world will be invited to compete at the next stage of the competition. For masters athletes (those aged 40 and above), that stage is the Masters Qualifier.

April 21-25—Masters Qualifier

The top 200 finishers in each Masters age division from the Open are automatically invited to compete in the online Masters Qualifier, consisting of a four-day competition over the course of one extended weekend. The top 20 finishers from each Masters division in the online qualifier qualify to compete at the CrossFit Games in Carson, California.

May 13-19—The Regionals

The top finishers from each region in the Open qualify to compete at the Regionals in May.

-Twenty men, 20 women and 15 teams will advance from regions in the U.S. and Canada.
-Thirty men, 30 women and 20 teams will advance from Europe and Australia.
-Ten men, 10 women and 10 teams will advance from Latin America, Asia and Africa.

As was the case last year, the 17 CrossFit Regions around the world are combined to form eight regional competitions:
