Switzerland’s Mirjam von Rohr has unofficially won the 2025 CrossFit Open, repeating her dominant performance from last year. With this victory, von Rohr continues her meteoric rise in the CrossFit world, proving that her success in 2024 was no fluke.
The official leaderboard is still subject to final review, but von Rohr’s consistent top-tier performances across the Open workouts have placed her at the pinnacle of the global standings once again.

Who Is Mirjam von Rohr? A Look at Her Athletic Journey
Von Rohr’s rapid ascent in CrossFit is nothing short of extraordinary. Originally a HYROX competitor and a multi-sport athlete, she has transitioned into one of the fittest women on the planet.
Before CrossFit, von Rohr built a reputation for her unconventional endurance challenges:
- 1,000 wall balls for time: 39:05
- Two-hour wall sit
- 100 thrusters unbroken: 3:04
- 1,000 burpees: 55:51
- Biking across Switzerland over two mountains: Three days
Her diverse athletic background includes running, gymnastics, and martial arts, but it wasn’t until late 2020 that she found CrossFit. Seeking a new challenge, she quickly adapted to the sport and has been climbing the ranks ever since.
Training Style: A Unique Approach to CrossFit
Unlike many elite CrossFit athletes who follow structured training programs, von Rohr writes much of her own programming. She trains in Switzerland at CrossFit Öuf and Functional Fitness Milory, tailoring her workouts to her strengths and weaknesses.
Von Rohr has only recently begun working with a coach but has maintained a high degree of independence in her training. Her approach emphasizes adaptability—modifying daily workouts while still pushing the boundaries of her fitness.
Despite starting Olympic weightlifting only three years ago, she has already set a Swiss national record in the clean and jerk (112kg) and won the 2024 Switzerland Weightlifting Championships in the 71kg category.
From HYROX to CrossFit: A Shift in Focus
Von Rohr is also one of the top-ranked HYROX athletes in the world, having won the HYROX European Championships in 2022. However, she has largely put HYROX on hold to pursue CrossFit at the highest level.
She acknowledges that excelling in both sports simultaneously is nearly impossible:
“Up to a certain point, both sports are very supportive of each other, and you can get better at both. However, if you want to be top of the top in the world, it’s almost impossible without specializing in one sport.”
Her current focus is qualifying for the 2025 CrossFit Games, and with back-to-back Open wins, she is well on her way.
What’s Next for von Rohr?
With the Quarterfinals and Semifinals ahead, von Rohr’s goal is clear—secure her first-ever ticket to the CrossFit Games in Fort Worth, Texas.
Although she still has HYROX aspirations, including a World Championship title in the Double Pro and Elite 15 divisions, CrossFit remains her top priority.
Her 2025 Open victory cements her status as one of the top female athletes in the sport. Now, the question remains: Can she carry this momentum to the CrossFit Games stage?
Stay tuned as von Rohr continues her journey toward the Games.
