Mark Lewis isn’t sugarcoating his journey anymore.

After years of consistently eating his way into what he openly calls “looking quite bad,” he’s flipping the script with a brutally honest approach to getting back in shape.

In a recent video on his channel, Lewis walked viewers through exactly what a typical day looks like when you’re serious about transformationโ€”complete with demolished kitchens, treadmills that think for themselves, and earbuds that might just save your sanity.

His methods might seem extreme, but there’s genius hiding in the madness.

Morning Sunlight: The Unexpected Countryside Problem

Lewis starts every day at 7:00 a.m. with what sounds simple: go outside.

But there’s a twist. After moving from city life to the countryside, he discovered something counterintuitiveโ€”he was getting less sunlight than before.

I could go all day without seeing sunlight, like a lot of people that work from home. So bizarrely, I found that quite quickly I was finding it harder to get up in the mornings and get on with the day than I was when I was back in the city.

The culprit? Lack of structure. In the city, walking dogs forced him outdoors first thing. In the countryside, dogs simply walked themselves.

His solution was deceptively simple: make it a rule to join them. No cold plunges, no bulletproof coffee nonsenseโ€”just walking around outside to start the day.

Morning sunlight exposure helps regulate circadian rhythms, improves mood, and kickstarts alertness. Lewis noticed the difference immediately once he reinstated this habit from his city days.

Kitchen Demolition: Making Healthy Eating Inevitable

Here’s where things get intense.

Lewis bought a Ninja ice cream maker. His wife said it didn’t fit on the countertop. So he ripped out the entire kitchen.

There’s a couple of steps between those two things, but not as many as you might think.

Extreme? Absolutely. But his reasoning reveals something profound about behavior change.

Environment Designs Behavior

Lewis operates on one principle: make habits incredibly simple to execute.

There are very few inconvenient things to do that people do as a habit. It’s why people bite their fingernails and not their toenails.

His kitchen renovation centers entirely around function for healthy eating. Massive fridge-freezer for protein ice cream storage. Dedicated shelving for protein powder and creatine. Raised door frames so he doesn’t have to duck (because even minor annoyances create friction).

The goal? Eliminate every excuse. Remove every barrier between intention and action.

I have had occasions, many where I’ve come in here motivated, thinking I’ll make myself a healthy snack, can’t immediately find what I need and just grab the chocolate. That’s got to stop.

The Actual Eating Plan

Lewis keeps nutrition brutally simple with two anchors:

Breakfast alternates between overnight oats (protein shake, oats, chocolate milk made in batches of five or six) and scrambled eggs from his chickens.

If I start my day right, I carry on my day right. It is so easy for me to not be able to find what I want and just eat something stupid. And then, having done that at 8:00 in the morning, what does it matter? I do the rest of the day.

Evening snacking gets handled by that kitchen-destroying ice cream maker. He batches protein shakes, freezes them solid, then blends them into ice cream when cravings hit.

It means you can have a couple hundred calories in a protein shake and once it’s done its thing with it, it takes all night to eat. It really is a game changer for my evening snacking.

Everything gets tracked in MyFitnessPal. Target: 600-calorie daily deficit. No winging it.

And is it boring to eat the same thing day in day out? Yes, it is. But it’s also boring being too fat. I have no middle ground.

Sleep Earbuds That Actually Work

Lewis struggled with racing thoughts at nightโ€”a common experience for neurodivergent individuals.

His solution came from Oslo sleep buds, tiny earphones virtually undetectable when lying on a pillow. They work through intelligent sound layering:

  • Start with podcasts or music from your phone
  • Detect when you’ve fallen asleep
  • Automatically switch to white noise (rainfall, wind, airplane sounds)
  • Turn off white noise after predetermined time
  • Wake you with gentle alarm

I have a brain that growing up in the 70s and 80s was described by teachers as weird, now known as neurodivergent. It means that my brain just races. I’d think of a thousand things at once.

First night using them? Transformative sleep quality. No more afternoon naps draining training time.

The Treadmill That Reignited Running

Lewis recently declared he was done with running. Then he got a Wahoo Kicker Run.

This isn’t your standard gym treadmill. Three features changed everything:

Adaptive Terrain

The deck tilts up and down for hills, shifts left to right simulating off-road running. It creates engagement traditional treadmills can’t match.

Run Free Technology

This feature borders on magical. Speed up your running paceโ€”the treadmill automatically accelerates. Slow downโ€”it decelerates. Stop completelyโ€”it stops.

No buttons. No touching controls. It reads imperceptible backward movement on the belt.

You can actually jog on this, come to a complete stop, so just stop yourself running and the machine stops and you don’t disappear off the back. It truly is gamechanging as far as treadmills go.

Smart Display Integration

Instead of built-in screens, you mount your phone or tablet. All metricsโ€”heart rate, pace, time, distanceโ€”display through connected apps with more data than standard gym equipment provides.

Lewis now splits cardio 50/50 between this treadmill and his beloved Wahoo Kicker bike for Zwift sessions.

Weights Without Distraction

Four days weekly. Two upper body, two lower body. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays.

Lewis used ChatGPT to design his programโ€”a surprisingly effective approach he believes has made lower-quality online trainers obsolete.

But programming wasn’t his biggest challenge. Focus was.

Home gyms offer convenience but lack atmosphere. No energy from other lifters, no environmental pressure to stay engaged.

It’s very quiet in here. There’s nothing to kind of infuse you along other than your own enthusiasm. And that means I’m very easy distracted.

His solution? No phones in the gym. He tracks workouts on paper during sessions, then updates the Strong app afterward in the house.

This single change eliminated mindless scrolling and premature workout abandonment.

Progress Targets and Timeline

Starting weight: approximately 112-114 kilograms (247-251 pounds). Lewis didn’t record his exact worst point.

Current: down several kilos already.

Target: 92 kilograms (203 pounds)โ€”roughly 20 kilos or 45 pounds total loss.

Timeline: six months at approximately two pounds weekly. Expected completion by end of summer.

Addressing the Controversy

Lewis doesn’t dodge the elephant in the room. He’s on testosterone replacement therapy. He’s used Mounjaro (fat loss injections) previously.

Some viewers claim this makes his content irrelevant to them.

His response cuts through the noise:

I could be doing crack cocaine crystal meth and putting heroin in my protein shake, if that’s even a thing you can do. It would not take away from the fact that going for a walk in the morning might make you feel better.

He points out that elderly women contact him saying they found pieces of his content relatable and implemented them successfully.

You are going to have to just like the old ladies do, pick the bits that are relevant to you or entertaining for you to see and ignore the bits that aren’t. If you can’t do that, I simply can’t help you.

The fundamentals remain universal: morning sunlight exposure, removing friction from healthy choices, tracking nutrition accurately, eliminating distractions during training.

Whether Lewis achieves his transformation through perfectly optimized hormones or sheer disciplined consistency, the systems he’s building work independently of pharmaceutical assistance.

That’s what makes them worth studyingโ€”even if your kitchen stays intact.
