WodPrep just dropped their latest Instagram post, breaking down what we might see in CrossFit Open 25.3—and their analysis makes a lot of sense. By looking at past workouts, movement trends, and gaps in what’s been tested so far, they’ve made an educated guess about what’s coming next.

Let’s dive into their breakdown and see what movements are most likely to show up in Week 3 of the Open. 🔥

With two weeks of the CrossFit Open in the books, anticipation is high for 25.3. Based on past workouts, movement trends, and a strategic breakdown of what’s been tested so far, we can make an educated guess about what’s coming next.

What’s Likely to Appear in 25.3?

Analyzing previous weeks, here’s what seems most probable:

1. A Heavy Pull from the Floor

  • A deadlift is a strong candidate, as we haven’t seen a traditional heavy pull yet.
  • Expect heavier loading than 225/155 to challenge strength rather than cycle speed.

2. Rowing is Almost Certain

  • The rower hasn’t been programmed yet, and the athlete lineup suggests it may make an appearance.
  • It tends to favor larger athletes, aligning with a need for a size-biased test.

3. Pressing Gymnastics: Handstand Push-Ups or Wall Walks

  • Wall walks or HSPU (handstand push-ups) could be programmed, with increasing difficulty (kipping into strict reps).
  • A handstand walk is less likely due to floor space limitations, but not impossible.

Movements That Fit the Remaining Test Needs

To balance the Open’s structure, CrossFit HQ typically includes a mix of skills, strength, and endurance. Here’s what we haven’t seen yet and could make sense in 25.3:

Rowing
Deadlifts
Snatches
Wall Walks
HSPU Variations
Toes-to-Bar (TTB)
Box Jumps

What’s Probably NOT in 25.3?

Looking at the movements from 25.1 and 25.2, we can rule out:
Burpees (already tested over a dumbbell)
Dumbbell movements (too similar to previous workouts)
Pulling Gymnastics (Muscle-Ups, Chest-to-Bar, Pull-Ups) (already included)
Squat variations (Wall Balls, Thrusters, Clean & Jerks)

Predicted Workout Structure for 25.3

While we can’t say for certain, a likely format might include:
🔥 A rowing + deadlift couplet or triplet
🔥 A heavier barbell component
🔥 Gymnastics pressing (wall walks or HSPU)

Final Thoughts

CrossFit Open workouts are designed to be balanced yet challenging. Based on previous weeks, we expect a strength separator workout that biases bigger athletes while testing gymnastics ability. Rowing, deadlifts, and HSPU/wall walks seem to be the key elements to watch for.
