  • Eccentric Focus: Use a 3โ€“5 second descent. For example, in Romanian deadlifts, slowly lower the weight over a count of 4โ€“5 seconds, then lift it back up in 1โ€“2 seconds.
  • Pauses: Add a 2โ€“3 second isometric hold at the bottom of a squat or bench press.
