A 59-year-old woman has literally reversed her aging process, looking better now than she did 10, 15, even 20 years ago.
Her transformation involved no Botox, no fillers, and zero plastic surgery.
Instead, she focused on releasing fascial restrictions and retraining fundamental movement patterns that most people completely ignore.
In a recent conversation, fitness expert Oscar Patel sat down with his mother Megan to discuss her remarkable physical transformation and the unconventional methods that made it possible.

A Complex Medical History
Megan’s journey wasn’t straightforward. Her body had endured significant trauma over the decades.
When I was young, I had five exploratory surgeries, so I had a lot of scar tissue built up on that.
She also experienced a bike accident requiring surgery, two back surgeries, and two cesarean sections. The second cesarean proved particularly complicated due to layers of built-up fascia from the previous surgery.
If you want something simple that actually works, this is one of the most effective tools I’ve used to build strength, conditioning, and endurance without needing a full gym setup.
- Full-body training with one weight using swings, squats, and presses
- Solid cast iron build that feels stable and lasts for years
- Comfortable grip that makes high-rep workouts easier to handle
Additionally, Megan spent 12 years on antibiotics as a child and had seven teeth extracted throughout her life. These interventions created cascading effects throughout her body that would take decades to fully manifest.
Understanding Fascia: The Body’s Hidden Network
Fascia is a layer of connective tissue that runs throughout the entire body like a spider web. It covers every system, wraps around muscles, tendons, and organs.
Weighing over 22 kilograms, fascia is involved in virtually every bodily process. It’s essentially the layer that connects the physical and mental, bridging body and mind.
According to Oscar, fascia contains six times more sensory receptors than muscle tissue, making it deeply interconnected with the nervous system.
When people experience stress, anxiety, or physical trauma, these emotions and experiences become physically stored within the fascial system. Over time, this creates tension patterns that affect posture, breathing, facial structure, and overall health.
The Two Game-Changing Techniques
When asked what made the biggest difference in her transformation, Megan identified two key practices.
Tongue Exercises
The thing that’s changed me is absolutely the thumb pulling, but specifically I love pulling my tongue and pushing the tongue. They really have opened my airways and just really stretched my jaw and my breathing.
The tongue connects to one of the 12 major fascial lines in the body—specifically the deep front line. This line runs from the feet through the pelvis and rib cage all the way to the tongue and hyoid area.
As people age, the tongue typically falls lower, teeth become crowded (especially lower teeth), posture collapses forward, and skin around the neck and jaw becomes looser.
By stretching and strengthening the tongue, Megan was able to release this fascial line, provide hydration to the fascia, and help restore proper positioning throughout her entire body.
Zygomatic Taping
Megan describes the zygomatic tape as “a weighted blanket for your face.”
You put it on the zygomatic bone here, and then I put one here and off to bed we go.
The tape is applied strategically across the cheekbones and mentalis (chin area). This isn’t just about holding things in place temporarily—it works with a structure called the SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system).
This system naturally holds tension in the face with an upward and outward pull. But over time, as fascia tightens and muscles weaken from improper chewing, swallowing, and accumulated modern habits, tension shifts downward.
The strategic taping reshapes this system by providing passive pressure along correct fascial lines. This allows the tongue to rest properly on the roof of the mouth, which then holds the entire face structure upward.
Additional Facial Taping Techniques
Megan uses several other taping applications beyond the basic zygomatic technique:
- Forehead lines: She places tape in a V-shape on the “11 lines” between the eyebrows, which lifts the area and the sinuses
- Mouth area: Twice weekly, she applies tape across the area where she talks frequently to address creases from facial movement
- Sleep quality: Before using zygomatic tape, she moved excessively during sleep and looked worse upon waking than during the day
The key principle: any product that replaces function rather than improves it is ineffective.
Facial taping works because it provides temporary, passive pressure that works with the body’s natural systems rather than against them or replacing their function entirely.
The Tooth-Body Connection
Each tooth connects to the trigeminal nerve, representing a signal to the body’s nervous system.
When teeth touch, they encourage proprioception—how the body holds itself, controls itself, and understands its position in space and time.
Each extracted or unnaturally shifted tooth weakens the signal from face to nervous system. Like removing pieces from a Jenga tower, the overall structure becomes weaker and more fragile.
Since fascia wraps around each layer of the body, removing structural elements means the fascia has less to wrap around. It becomes dehydrated, tighter, and crinkled—like a piece of paper being crushed.
All of those, you know, I always said people, how do we wake up and someone says it’s time to go have your wisdom teeth out, Megan. How can that even be a thing? We ignore the word wisdom.
Megan experienced significant health issues after wisdom tooth extraction, including several years of illness and the onset of anxiety attacks.
The Four Pillars of Fascial Health
Fascia becomes hydrated through four primary mechanisms:
- Breath: Proper breathing patterns maintain fascial hydration and elasticity
- Movement: Regular, varied movement prevents fascial adhesions and stagnation
- Diet: Nutrition directly impacts fascial health and tissue quality
- Sun exposure: Sunlight plays a role in fascial tissue maintenance
When diet shifts and gut health changes, fascia becomes more dehydrated. When stressful diagnoses trigger breathing changes, movement patterns shift, potentially leading to postural issues like scoliosis.
As fascia tightens throughout the body, it limits everything else. The body begins compensating—teeth shift, the tongue drops from the roof of the mouth, the nervous system shifts into a stressed state.

Feet: The Foundation of Everything
Megan also addressed foot issues including duck feet, bunions, and plantar fasciitis. She had worn orthopedic soles, but these created additional compensations as her knees began caving inward.
Oscar initially noticed that when Megan walked, her heel flicked inward instead of away from her body—a subtle but significant indicator of fascial restriction and movement dysfunction.
I was so seriously so offended when Oscar said I had duck feet. And then I was walking along, and then I was like, “Oh my god.”
The feet are the foundation of the body, connected to every other structure through fascial lines. The superficial back line, for instance, starts in the feet and connects all the way to the scalp.
When this line becomes tight, circulation decreases, blood flow to the scalp weakens, and issues like hair thinning can emerge—seemingly unrelated to foot problems but directly connected through fascial pathways.
Practical Foot Exercise
Rolling the foot on a ball provides immediate fascial release:
- 20 repetitions rolling back and forth in the middle of the foot
- 20 repetitions rolling side to side on the ball of the foot (just below the toes)
- 20 small back-and-forth repetitions on the heel
- Repeat on each foot
Additionally, light hopping on the balls of the feet promotes lymphatic drainage. The fascial and lymphatic systems are deeply interconnected, which explains why people with poor posture often show facial puffiness or bloating, especially in the morning.

The Pregnancy and Postpartum Factor
Megan emphasized how pregnancy, breastfeeding, and cesarean surgeries impact fascial health.
You’re pregnant and then I breastfed for so long. You just drain and I had those emergency surgeries. That’s when a lot of teeth issues come up for women. Such a demineralization occurs because you’re just giving all of your nutrients to the baby.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the body prioritizes nutrient delivery to the baby. This leaves the mother depleted, particularly affecting teeth and bone density.
Combined with cesarean scar tissue that creates additional fascial restrictions, many women face a perfect storm of structural compromise during this vulnerable period.
Why Traditional Approaches Miss the Mark
The fundamental problem with conventional health approaches is their focus on symptomatic solutions rather than root causes.
Scientific studies might examine tooth extractions and assess dental outcomes 10 years later. But they won’t examine the impact on knee health, even though there’s a clear structural connection.
When a tooth is extracted, the head shifts forward. Cervical fascia tightens. The spine compensates. The pelvis shifts. The knees adjust. The feet change position.

There’s a direct fascial line from teeth to knees, but no research connects these dots because the body isn’t viewed as an integrated system.
Similarly, when someone has scoliosis, the typical approach treats the spine in isolation. But scoliosis might originate from dental work, breathing dysfunction, foot problems, or any number of compensatory patterns stored in the fascial system.
The Mind-Body-Fascia Connection
Oscar emphasizes that humans experience the world through their bodies, not just their minds.
When stressed, people breathe shallowly. When anxious, they clench their jaws. When shy, they hunch forward. When happy, they smile.
Bodies are physical representations of internal states. Emotions and experiences become stored as patterns within the fascial system.
This isn’t abstract spirituality—it’s physiology. With six times more sensory receptors than muscle tissue, fascia is intimately connected to the nervous system.

- Full-body training with one weight using swings, squats, and presses

When you do this work, you become very close with yourself in terms of how you’re feeling, what that pain is, how to fix it, what to do. It’s a beautiful unionship with your soul and your physical body.
Working with fascia releases not only physical restrictions but also stored emotional patterns. This creates a deeper connection between body and self-awareness.
The Realistic Time Commitment
Contrary to what people might expect, this approach doesn’t require massive time investment.
Megan now has proper chewing, swallowing, breathing, and posture patterns integrated into daily life. These aren’t exercises she does—they’re how she naturally functions.
She sleeps better, breathes better, no longer snores, and sleeps on her side comfortably.
You’re not your best version of yourself when you are so tight with the fascia so wrapped so tight. As you loosen and you get it looser and you’re moving better and you’re breathing better and you’re sleeping, everything changes.
The initial work takes approximately 10-15 minutes daily. But the return on investment is immediate: better sleep, more energy, improved appearance, enhanced mental clarity.
As Oscar notes, when foundational patterns—chewing, swallowing, eating, sleeping, breathing, walking, talking—aren’t in proper form, people wake up in a degenerative state daily. They’re weakening every day.
If you want something simple that actually works, this is one of the most effective tools I’ve used to build strength, conditioning, and endurance without needing a full gym setup.
- Full-body training with one weight using swings, squats, and presses

Starting Your Own Assessment
For anyone interested in beginning this work, Oscar recommends a simple starting protocol:
- Document your current state: Take photos of your side profile, full-body posture, palate, and front profile
- Analyze without judgment: Compare your body to proper structural alignment—not what you think proper posture is, but what it actually should be
- Begin fascial release: Start with foot rolling (as detailed earlier) or thumb pulling to release palatal fascia
- Add breathwork: Breathe consciously during all fascial release work
- Assess movement patterns: Notice how you walk, stand, sit, and move throughout the day
The tongue should rest on the roof of the mouth. The palate should be U-shaped, not V-shaped. Posture should be back-chain dominant with hips back and head forward (not jutting forward from slouching, but properly positioned over the body).
Most people have no idea what correct positioning actually looks like, which is why assessment is crucial before attempting correction.
The Natural Beauty Philosophy
Megan is proud to be naturally herself at 59, especially in a world where cosmetic interventions have become normalized.
I am the only friend or anyone that I know that hasn’t had anything done to their face, and I was with absolute no judgment. I’ve been on so many things medically in my body. I am allergic to a lot of things. So I was forced to never ever do it.
She describes faces with fillers and Botox as appearing “robotic and the same,” like a museum where a master painter made everything uniform. Natural, authentic beauty maintains uniqueness and character.
Her daughter benefits from learning these principles young, allowing her to build her “natural beauty line” from an early age through small habit corrections rather than later interventions.
The philosophy: everything is made perfectly. Babies crawl in specific patterns. Animals move in optimal ways. Humans are meant to have wide palates, proper posture, and be their best selves.
The work isn’t about fixing something broken—it’s about removing accumulated restrictions and returning to natural, optimal function.
The Bigger Picture
Megan’s transformation isn’t just physical. She describes profound emotional and spiritual shifts.
Everything that’s stuck in us gives us pain, it even stops our decision-making. So we need to clear all that to bring us into full unionship with our own mission, with our purpose, with our delights in life.
Modern sedentary lifestyles—lying on sofas watching television—create progressive stiffness and tightness. Without movement, people become increasingly unaware of signals their bodies are sending.
Since ancient times, humans have moved, danced, and shifted to release fascial tension. This wasn’t formal exercise—it was natural living.
The current epidemic of physical dysfunction stems from ignoring these fundamental needs.

- Full-body training with one weight using swings, squats, and presses
- Solid cast iron build that feels stable and lasts for years

At 59, Megan now skips through gardens, moves freely, sleeps soundly, and looks dramatically younger than her chronological age—all without a single cosmetic procedure.
Her transformation proves that with proper understanding of fascial health, structural alignment, and fundamental movement patterns, aging in reverse is genuinely possible.
